A Message From Our Owner
We would like to congratulate the recipients of our services that were generously donated to the "Look for the Helpers" campaign!
Congratulations Sarah Olesky! Sarah is an RN on a med surg unit for the past 7 years, with a specialty in oncology and urology and sub specialties in ENT, plastics and gynecology. She truly loves taking care of all of her patients and continuing her education at Robert Morris University; getting her Doctor of Nursing Practice and graduating in May (way to go, Sarah!). With being in school, she's had the opportunity to go to Ecuador to deliver medical care to areas in need, as secluded as the Amazon Rainforest, and it was truly one of the best experiences of her life and has made her want to continue giving back to underserved areas in the future.
Congratulations Xia Winston-Coffee! Xia is a home care nurse, which means she sees patients in their homes instead of in a formal clinical setting. She works four days a week since the pandemic started and schools were closed; 2 days during the week and every weekend. She homeschools the other days during the week for her middle schooler and her preschooler. Basically, Xia works 7 days/week! As a home care nurse, she not only does basic nursing duties in the home, but also many times must act as a case manager, social worker, aide, etc., because she is out here alone; no coworkers with her, no doctors nearby, nothing. She is the eyes and ears of the doctors, and since the pandemic began, home care has been heavily relied on to treat patients because they aren’t being seen in office as often. The phone never stops ringing and the jobs never really ends out there. Xia deserves some self-care! Thank you for all you do.
Congratulations Julia Hinley! Julia has been an ICU nurse for 15 years and for the past 3 has been the unit director of one of the ICUs at UPMC. She oversees a staff of around 100 nurses and patient care technicians who care for patients and support their families. They have been amazing in facing the challenges and changes over the past months and she is so proud and honored to lead such an extraordinary and resilient group of people. In the midst of everything, Julia has been planning a wedding and she is getting married in November. She can't wait to start her married life with her future husband, Andy. Definitely time for someone to take care of Julia! Thank you for your helping hands.
We would also like to thank our other two winners, Amber H. and Maggie L. Both nurses fighting the good fight out there every day! Heartfelt thank you for your service.
